Riot FINALLY Unveils the TFT Galaxies ChampionshipPosted by Competitive Announcements May 11, 2020 in
Rejoice my fellow TFT fanatics; April 13th, 2020 finally marks the day Riot unveils details on the competitive TFT scene with TFT Galaxies Championship! Whether you’re looking to write your name in stone as one of the TFT greats, support a certain lifestyle of playing TFT for a living, or simply support your favourite TFT pros in their endeavours, this is the moment we’ve all been waiting for!
As a quick peek before going into more detail, here is a diagram indicating the qualification process for the TFT Galaxies Championship:
How Can A Player From NA Qualify?
As seen in the diagram above, 2 players from NA will inevitably be invited to the TFT Galaxies Championship. To determine those 2 players, a 16 player NA final will be played in mid-august. The article states there will be 2 methods for qualification: Ladder snapshots and “Organized Play”.
- Ladder Snapshots: Starting in May and ending in July, weekly snapshots will be taken of the ladder and players will be awarded points based on their ladder position. The top 10 point accumulators will be invited to the NA Final.
- “Organized Play”: Riot will be organizing a circuit of online tournaments where players will fight for 2 additional spots in the NA final. The 4 remaining spots will be distributed via partner qualification events taking place in June and July. No concrete details on the organized play have been released as of yet.
When will the TFT Galaxies Championship take place?
The Teamfight Tactics Galaxies Championship will take place following the conclusion of Set 3. If the NA final is slated to be in Mid august, I believe we can expect the Teamfight Tactics Galaxies Championship to be maybe 2-4 weeks after the conclusion of that event, meaning a potential early-mid September start.
